DungeonCrawl will lose it's super group status as of tomorrow.  To renew is a bit pricy.  I am short on funds at the moment, so we will be losing some of our home page bells and whistles.  I'm not sure how much it will change our page...

Let me know how important having the group be  super group is to you.  If it is in demand, we can start a donation points pool and members can chip in to upgrade back to super.

-----------

Post Script 4/28/12: apparently we lost some of our widgets I was using to feature dungeonscapes folder and art from winners of contests.  I think we can live with that.

From your founder, mistgod the marvelous!

i have a rule to myself to not give in the temptation of buying points or virtual money from any website...

i don't know if there is any difference between a regular and a super group but not too long ago i got a runner up of points in a contest, and i m cool giving it away to a cause like this for a group that i actually enjoy participating. Is not much (300 certainly not much), and i m not going to get anything from it so it's yours the moment you open the pool, better use to have it stack points in a pool.

Thanks, the offer is really appreciated! Yeah, the internet world is a weird place and it gets really weird buying anything "virtual." I have purchased cake badges for people. Silly, but it was a cheap thrill I guess. The guys who came up with that idea are laughing all the way to the bank I suppose.

I want to wait and see what difference there is in the DungeonCrawl page before we bother with a points pool. My gut feeling is that it will make little or no significant difference and we can go without the super group status. I purchased the super group thing on a whim last year when I was feeling rich and less wise with my money. lol

yeah, you should totally investigate that, and if you think is a need for the actual situation of the group, well, ask the group what they think again. I m pretty sure you'll get an answer... good or bad, that is xd.

I just looked over the difference between SuperGroup and Groups, and I don't think we're going to be out much that's critical. My main concern would be how it will affect the gallery folders. If it just removes the side links for the folders, it is something that we can live without for the time being.

That is what I am thinking too. I kind of like the custom widget, I hope we don't lose that or our features slideshow. I'm not sure how important those things are to individual members though. The cost for a super group is way to high really in my opinion. Might not be worth it.

It makes sense for some groups, groups that have thousands of active members. It also makes sense when members donate a handful of points towards that goal. High member numbers make that easy. Rich moderators make that easy. Honestly, if I didn't just run up several grand in med bills, I'd be pretty tempted to kick over the $60 to keep it up. But, right now it isn't feasible.
We'll see how it looks when it runs out and how many people actually care about it.

Oh you and me are in the same boat on the medical bills. I just got through bankruptcy court and we are just waiting for the letter of discharge. Now to rebuild....lol I appreciate the words of support for the group! I agree that the group members should support any upgrade to super group status. With over 250 members, I think it would be something that should be possible. I will let the members decide. :-)
